2027-2028 Upperclass Housing

Not sure about your housing choices or what might be the best fit for you? Many students feel pressured to sign leases for next year’s housing early in the fall semester, so we want to provide information about your available options. We don’t want you to be stressed about housing!            

Application Overview

• The application opens for all upperclass on-Grounds housing on October 1.
• The deadline to apply to residential colleges and language houses is October 18.
• The priority application deadline for upperclass apartments is October 23.
• Residential college room selection timeslots will be sent on October 28, and room selection will take place on November 4.
• Language house room assignments are made by the program directors, and offers will be sent out on October 28. 
• Timeslots for upperclass apartments will be sent on November 6. 
• Every on-Grounds housing applicant who applies by the deadline receives a room selection timeslot. Any group member can select rooms for their group, so the student with the earliest timeslot can choose for all group members.
• The roommate matching portal for upperclass apartments will open on November 9.
• Room selection for upperclass apartments will be January 20-29, 2027.
• The self-change deadline will be February 26, 2027.

What's new this year?

• You can apply for all areas starting on October 1. Residential college, language house, and upperclass apartment applications all open at the same time.
   
• The housing application for upperclass apartments will remain open after the October 23 priority application deadline. If you miss the deadline, you can still apply, but you may be placed on a waitlist.
   
• You can have a voice in how HRL offers on-Grounds housing to upperclass students, through a preferences survey that's right in the housing application.
   
• If you apply to live in upperclass apartments, you will receive your timeslot information in early November.
   
• The housing contract will only be binding once you select your 2027-2028 housing in January.
   
• You will have until February 26, 2027 to use the self-change option in the housing portal to make changes or to cancel your 2027-2028 housing with no penalty.

Starting in September, many students feel pressured to sign leases for next year's living accommodations. Housing & Residence Life doesn't want students to be stressed about housing, but does want to provide information about your choices!

Join us for our Upperclass Housing Information Session, and learn about making good housing decisions! We'll share information on your housing options for 2027-2028, including budgeting details, so that you can get the facts before you commit. 

You'll hear from Housing & Residence Life staff about on- and off-Grounds choices in a presentation that addresses each kind of housing option and the kinds of community experiences you can expect. We'll also share more about what's changing for the on-Grounds process this year.

Can't attend the in-person information session?

A virtual housing information session will be offered for those who can't attend the September 24 in-person event. This virtual session will be recorded and posted on this page as well. 

In addition, a series of virtual housing office hours will offer opportunities to connect with HRL staff and ask housing questions.
