Lambeth Field Apartments

Lambeth Apartments

What Are Lambeth Apartments Like?

Located close to Central Grounds, all 174 furnished, air-conditioned apartments in Lambeth Field’s 25 buildings contain either two or three bedrooms. Most bedrooms are double-occupancy. Each apartment has one and a half or two baths, a living room, and a kitchen with stove, refrigerator, and sink. A unique feature of the area is the Lambeth Commons, which includes newly renovated study, lounge, and common spaces as well as laundry facilities.

Housing & Residence Life has recently completed the process of renovating all of Lambeth’s interiors, including new flooring, kitchen cabinets and appliances, bathroom fixtures, lighting, furniture, water heaters, doors and locks.

Singles are also offered to groups of three students (three singles in a three-bedroom apartment) and are subject to availability.

Lambeth apartments and capacities include:
2-bedroom (4-person): 94 apartments, 376 students
3 bedroom (3-person): 58 apartments, 174 students
3 bedroom (6-person): 14 apartments, 84 students

How the Area Got its Name

A North Carolina native, William Alexander Lambeth was an instructor of physical culture and later an associate professor in hygiene and materia medic in the Medical School. In 1905 he became Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds. Lambeth Field and his own home in the Italianate style (on Emmet Street at Thomson Road) reflect his interest in architecture.
