How the Area Got Its Name
A North Carolina native, William Alexander Lambeth was an instructor of physical culture and later an associate professor in hygiene and materia medic in the Medical School. In 1905 he became Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds. Lambeth Field and his own home in the Italianate style (on Emmet Street at Thomson Road) reflect his interest in architecture.
