Need help finding roommates?
You may already know who you'd like to live with in 2025-2026.
But if you need to find on-Grounds roommates, the housing application itself can help you!
Roommate Groups
Students who apply for on-Grounds housing and want to choose their roommate(s) need to create or join a roommate group.
You can learn more about the steps involved in creating a roommate group by watching our Creating a Roommate Profile and Group video! You can also find these instructions in text format, and additional application information, on the Upperclass Housing Application Instructions page of our website.
Update Your Roommate Profile
The Returning Student Roommate Profile step of the housing application lets you add information about yourself to share with potential roommates.
This includes optional profile questions that can help you search for a potential roommate who provided similar answers to the questions.
Even if you added profile information about yourself and completed the questions in the past, it's a good idea to review those items in the housing portal. You may want to make updates!
Search for Roommates
After you complete or update your profile, you can find roommates on the Returning Student Roommate Groups step of the application. The Search for Roommates by Profiles text link at the bottom right lets you filter potential roommate results by any of the profile question answers.
Once you identify a potential roommate, you should send them a message so you can get to know them before asking them to join your roommate group!
If you and your friends have already decided to be roommates, you can find them on the same step of the application by using the Search for Roommates by Details text link, also on the bottom right of the Returning Student Roommate Groups page.
Applying for Housing Individually
If you want to live in a hallway-style single room next year, or if you don't want to apply with roommates, you do not need to create a roommate group. That's perfectly fine!
You can learn more about how this works in the housing application in the "Applying for Housing on Your Own" section of the Upperclass Housing Application Instructions page.
During your room selection timeslot, you can select from available spaces on Grounds. If you select a space in an apartment or double room, just be aware that other students will be able to select the remaining space(s).
