Students living in upperclass apartments (Bice, Bond, Copeley, Faulkner, Lambeth, Gaston/Ramazani), residential colleges (Brown, Hereford, IRC), language houses (Shea, French, Spanish), Gooch/Dillard, Johnson/Malone/Weedon, McCormick Road, and the Alderman Road hall-style and suite-style residence areas have electronic locks that can be controlled through your mobile phone. Lawn and Range bathrooms have electronic locks as well.
If you've forgotten your PIN or locked yourself out, the online resources linked below allow you to safely gain access to your room using a smartphone or mobile device.
Setting or resetting your door PIN
To begin, access the Cav Card website. If you are not already logged in via NetBadge, select "Student & Staff Login" in the navigation menu, then log in. NetBadge provides secure authentication using your personal digital certificate or computing ID and email password.
After logging in via NetBadge, navigate to the Set your 4-digit PIN page (under "Account Management" > "Set/Reset Your PIN" in the navigation menu).
Enter a four-digit PIN, enter it again to confirm, and click the blue "Reset" button.
When selecting a PIN, please avoid duplicate numbers and easy-to-guess number sequences such as 3333, 1234, etc.
Using Mobile ID Wallet to unlock your door
Returning students: please be aware that the CBORD Mobile ID App has been discontinued at UVA.
For those who want it, Mobile ID Wallet is the option for adding a University ID to the Apple or Google Wallet on their mobile device. Visit the Mobile ID Wallet page on the Cavalier Card Office website for more information.
Please note that if you choose Mobile ID Wallet and you have a physical ID card, your existing physical UVA Academic ID card will be deactivated, and can no longer be used to unlock doors.
However, residents who would rather use a physical ID card to access their room may continue to do so.
