Summer Intern Housing

Short-term summer housing for students completing internships at UVA (not those enrolled in summer session classes) or individuals participating in UVA-affiliated summer programs is available from Monday, May 29, 2017 until Saturday, August 5, 2017. Please note that you must be at least 18 years of age to live on-Grounds in short-term summer housing.

Accommodations

UVA interns and participants in UVA-affiliated programs stay in air-conditioned accommodations in Faulkner Apartments. Each guest will have a single bedroom. Apartments contain four bedrooms, a shared bathroom, living and dining room, and full kitchen with stove, refrigerator, and sink. All apartments are furnished with a sofa, two arm chairs, coffee table, two end tables with lamps, and dining table with chairs.

Please note that bedrooms are not equipped with hangers, irons, ironing boards, hair dryers, or lamps (overhead lighting only). Guests are responsible for supplying their own bed linens, pillow, and personal toiletry items including shampoo, soap, etc. In addition, apartments are not equipped with cooking supplies. Guests are responsible for supplying their own pots, pans, plates, utensils, etc. 

Laundry facilities are available for the use of guests during the summer. Washers and drtyers use Cavalier Advantage cards only, and are not coin-operated. Cavalier Advantage works as a declining balance account on your card, so funds must be available in your account. Individuals with a University-issued ID card may place Cavalier Advantage funds on their ID using one of the cash deposit machines on Grounds. Guests without a University ID may purchase a generic Cavalier Advantage card. Additional funds can be added using the cash deposit machines.

Reservations

Housing is offered at $41.00 per person, per night. All reservations must be made online with a valid credit card, using the Online Housing Application Form. Full payment is due upon registration.

PLEASE NOTE: Proof of UVA internship or participation in a UVA-affiliated program is required and will be verified prior to reservation confirmation. Please enter the name of the program, and the name and UVA email address of the supervising faculty member in the Special Requests field on the first page of the registration form. In the event that your internship or program participation cannot be verified, the housing reservation will be canceled, and no bed will be reserved.

Meal Plans and Parking

Conference Services does not arrange dining, meal plans, or parking for short-term summer housing residents. Please contact Dining Services (434.982.5110) for meal rates and dates of operation. Parking is available through Parking & Transportation (434.924.7231).

Check-In/Check-Out

Keys may be picked up from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Conference Services office in Gibbons House (425 Tree House Drive)  on your scheduled arrival date. All guests must vacate their housing by 11:00 a.m. on the day indicated on the reservation form. Keys must be returned to the Conference Services office in Gibbons House. No one will be allowed to stay in housing past 11:00 a.m. on August 5, 2017.

Cancellation Policy

To cancel your reservation, you must use the Summer Short-Term Housing Change and Cancellation Form. Please note that all cancellations must use the Change and Cancellation Form in order to be honored. There is a $50.00 cancellation fee for all reservation cancellations. If Conference Services receives written notice of cancellation at least seven days prior to your scheduled arrival date, you will receive a refund, less the $50.00 cancellation fee. Cancellation requests received less than one week (less than seven days) before the scheduled arrival date will be charged the $50.00 cancellation fee plus the cost of one week’s (seven days) stay in housing. This policy also applies to requests made after check-in.
