Each apartment features a large living area and a kitchen with stove, refrigerator, and sink. Kitchens in Bice have been upgraded with new cabinets, countertops, and appliances.

The University has embarked on a revitalization of Brandon Avenue with a multi-year, multi-phase project to improve the streetscape and provide new academic, student services, and residential spaces. This project includes the construction of Gaston/Ramazani Houses next to Bice House. For more information, please see the Brandon Avenue Construction Project section of our Construction Projects page.

How the House Got Its Name

Raymond (Ray) Bice was born in Wisconsin. His wife Zula Mae Baber Bice hailed from North Carolina. Ray came to the University as an Assistant Professor in 1948 and retired as Professor of Psychology in 1994. He continued as advisor and as University History Officer until 1998. Zula Mae was a key player in developing an autonomous School of Nursing at the University, serving as an acting Dean of the School of Nursing in the 1960s and continuing in a faculty role there until 1970.
